How to calculate time card hours
Enter your clock-in and clock-out times using 24-hour format for each shift. The calculator subtracts the clock-in time from the clock-out time to get the duration of each shift, then sums all shifts for the total. If your clock-out is past midnight, the calculator automatically adds 24 hours to the duration.
Time card reference
A standard full-time week is 40 hours (8 hours per day × 5 days). Overtime is typically calculated on hours over 8 per day or 40 per week, depending on jurisdiction. Decimal hours: 30 minutes = 0.5 h, 15 minutes = 0.25 h, 45 minutes = 0.75 h.
FAQ
Does it handle overnight shifts?
Yes. If your clock-out time is earlier than your clock-in time, the calculator assumes the shift crossed midnight and adds 24 hours to the clock-out time automatically.
Does it account for unpaid breaks?
Not automatically. To account for a break, split your shift into two rows: one before the break and one after. The sum of both rows will represent net working time.
