How to calculate your GPA
Enter the number of credit hours for each course and select the letter grade you received. GPA is calculated as the sum of (grade points × credits) divided by total credits. Grade points follow the standard 4.0 scale: A/A+ = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, and so on down to F = 0.0. Add as many courses as needed.
4.0 GPA scale reference
A+/A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B− = 2.7, C+ = 2.3, C = 2.0, C− = 1.7, D+ = 1.3, D = 1.0, D− = 0.7, F = 0.0. A GPA above 3.5 is generally considered honors level; above 3.7 is magna cum laude territory at many institutions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a good GPA?
A GPA of 3.0 (B average) is generally considered satisfactory. 3.5+ is strong, and 3.7+ is typically required for Latin honors (magna cum laude, summa cum laude) at most universities.
Does this use weighted or unweighted GPA?
This calculator uses credit-weighted GPA, where courses with more credits have greater impact on the result. This is the standard method used by most colleges and universities.
